Ancient Egypt was an old civilization in northeastern Africa. It was located along the Nile River in the place that is now the country Egypt.
 
The ancient Egyptians developed a complex system of hieroglyphic writing, a numeral system, and a solar calendar. They were also good at mathematics, astronomy, engineering, and medicine. 
 
The Egyptians built some of the most impressive monuments in the world, including the pyramids, the Sphinx, and the temples of Karnak and Luxor.
Ancient Egyptian civilization was attacked by many different groups of people, including the Hyksos, the Nubians, the Assyrians, the Persians, and the Greeks. After the last native pharaoh  – Egyptian Royalty – Cleopatra VII died, Egypt became a Roman province.

A civilization is a complex society that has developed advanced culture, social organization, and technology.

Hieroglyphic writing is a system of writing that uses pictures and symbols to represent words and concepts. It was the main writing system of ancient Egypt.

Astronomy is the study of celestial objects, such as stars, planets, and galaxies.

Engineering is the application of scientific principles to the design, construction, and operation of structures, machines, and systems.

Impressive monuments are large and impressive structures that are built to commemorate or honor something or someone.

Pharaoh was the title of the absolute ruler of ancient Egypt.

Province is a large administrative division of a country.
